April Lockhart
April Lockhart was born on July 4th, 1995. In seventh grade she began playing guitar and taking piano lessons, sparking her passion for songwriting. April's very first song was called Different. She wrote it at the age of 12. When she was 14 April was devoted for a long period of time in creating song concepts and practicing the music she was playing. She began writing along with her dad and her dad in NY and LA shortly after. The month also saw her include different topics related to some of her peers who are dealing with issues such as social pressure and teenage suicide as depicted in the song Take my Hand. Lockhart is a popular figure and also works as a lifestyle blogger at the popular Ilia Clean Beauty brand. She was born without her left hand. It's part of her story, but that's not the entire story. The account on Instagram of Lockhart doesn't deny her handicap. It also doesn't make it a point to emphasize the issue. What's the message? that we are all a part of a multitude that our identities are complex and that we are greater than the physical person we are. Lockhart says in a video interview with Lockhart via video "I do not believe that disability should define me. My goal is not to be an influencer on disability, because I've so much more to offer." It doesn't impact my day-to-day living. I do the things I normally would and have adjusted to my disabilities. Because it's part of who I am It's a topic worthy of talking about. Self-acceptance is a long marathon but Lockhart is an absolute inspiration in this regard. Still, she admits that she went through phases in her life regarding her appearance, feeling insecure at times to wear outfits that showcased her arms. Nowadays, she dresses anything she likes and uploads images of her outfits to social media, she is proud of herself. It's a journey is the key thing I'm not sure if you ever arrive she says about self-love. However, that is the case with anyone who has insecurities. I think it is important to be surrounded by people who can really know your.
